Dear Parents of AWANA Clubbers,

How thrilled we are to have your child participate in our AWANA program! We are seeking the Lord's direction and pray that this year's club experience will be full of fun and learning for your child.

Each weekly club meeting is composed of three basic elements: Handbook time, Game Time, and Council time.

  • During Handbook Time, an adult leader works with a small group of clubbers assisting them in memorizing Bible verses and other learning activities. With encouragement your child should gain valuable insights to spiritual truths. He or she will earn awards for passing sections in a handbook to motivate further achievement.

  • Game time is an exciting part of our club night. Sparks and older children participate in team events on AWANA's unique game circle. Experience tells us that sneakers are most appropriate for running on asphalt; any other footwear can contribute to a painful fall. Knees should be protected by wearing long pants or athletic knee pads. We have a first aid kit but prefer not to use it!

  • During Council Time, your child will hear messages from God's Word delivered by exemplary adult speakers. these volunteer men and women are the kind of role models you want your child to follow.

You have a critical part in all of this. In order for your child to get the most out of the AWANA program, we need your help. Your partnership with us is essential in helping your child achieve. Following are some practical suggestions you may wish to consider:

  1. Please bring your child to club on time. Club runs from 6:30 to 8:15 each Wednesday night; Cubbies ends at 8:10. Please stay with your child after you pick them up for your child's safety.
  2. Make sure your child wears his or her uniform to club. Proper display of clubbers' awards contributes greatly to their sense of achievement.
  3. Make sure your child pays club dues regularly. they can be paid $15 annually, $2 monthly, or 50 cents a night. These funds are used to help defray the costs of awards that motivate clubbers to achieve. Paying dues promotes a sense of ownership in the program and teaches clubbers responsibility and good stewardship.
  4. Help your child prepare for club each week by spending time at home reviewing handbook material with him or her. We suggest a brief two-to-three minute session each morning and night.
  5. We encourage you to do some handbook sections yourself. This will demonstrate to your child how important you feel that memorizing scripture really is.
  6. Visit our club and come to some of our outings. Your child will be thrilled to have you take part in club activities. We would also enjoy meeting you and having you share insight about your child with us.
  7. Encourage you child. Achievement is hard work.
  8. Our church is always a welcome home for you and your family. Please join us in our regular services at 10:30.

We are thankful that you allow us the privilege of working with your child and seek the Lord for his wisdom and strength. It is our desire that your child will enjoy our program and continue to progress through all the club levels. AWANA logo
