Circle Community Church has a very active AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) program. It meets on
Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 pm during the school year. There is involvement for all ages of children from pre-school through high school. The main
emphasis of our AWANA program is "To reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him". We see the fruits of the AWANA program which
has been on-going at Circle Community Church for 18 years. Many of the current leaders of the AWANA program have "grown up" in the program from a young age.
It is exciting to watch children develop and mature through the AWANA program. Below is a brief description of the AWANA clubs and the age groups they
reach.
Cubbies
Preschool boys and girls. Cubbies is unique because it supports and maintains parents as the primary source of spiritual nurturing by directly involving
them in the teaching and learning process. Cubbies uses the fundamental Awana elements of games and activities, Bible memorization, handbooks, and awards.
Sparks
Boys and girls in kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. Each club meeting has three parts. In Game Time, Sparkies enjoy entertaining games played on
the Awana Game Circle. During Green Meadow Time, Sparkies gather for their age-appropriate Bible lesson. During Sparkle Time, clubbers recite Bible verses from
memory, complete handbook sections, and earn awards. Sparky, the friendly firefly, appears throughout the Bible-based materials to encourage clubbers to
complete their handbook achievements.
Pals & Chums
Boys (Pals) and Girls (Chums) in third and fourth grade. An American Indian theme is used throughout the Bible-based materials. Club meetings consist of
three segments. Game Time is when fun, exciting, team-oriented games are played on the Awana Game Circle. Council Time is when clubbers get together for singing
and Bible teaching, and are challenged to serve God. Handbook Time is when boys and girls meet in separate, small groups to recite Bible verses from memory,
interact with their trained adult leaders, complete their handbook sections, and earn awards.
Pioneers & Guards
Boys (Pioneers) and Girls (Guards) in fifth and sixth grade. . As they mature and head toward their teenage years, Pioneers and Guards use handbooks and
other materials especially geared for their older age group. These clubs use a contemporary nautical theme throughout the Bible-based materials. The club
meeting features fun and competitive games and a message that focuses on the gospel and applying God's Word to daily life. During Handbook Time, leaders
interact with clubbers to help them memorize and understand Scripture verses.
Junior Varsity
JV helps teens to hear God's Word among the chorus of voices. Jr. Varsity gives junior-highers biblical truth with an emphasis on application in daily life.
The program is designed to win the lost, build the believer, and equip the committed for fruitful ministry.
Varsity
Circle Community Church uses the AWANA AKX program for High School students. The name AKX means "fit for the Master's use" and is taken from the Greek
words Alpha Kappa Chi. The theme scripture is 2 Timothy 2:21 The AKX program currently meets every other Tuesday night from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. The AKX
program is designed for building maturity in a high school students walk with the Lord.
